PARS Playwork Practice Level 4
PPP4 is our highest level PARS qualification. It will enable you to articulate, develop and evaluate your PARS playwork practice and the whole of the PARS model itself.
To join a PPP4 programme, you must have completed PPP3 first. Anybody who wants to become a PARS Licensed Trainer must have successfully completed PPP4.

High level PARS training
PPP4 is our flagship qualification for our PARS Licensed Trainers. Please note that you will need to complete PPP3 before signing up for PPP4.
Internationally applicable
PPP4 graduates include PARS practitioners in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, UK, Taiwan, Canada, Brazil, USA, South Korea.
NCFE accredited and certificated
PPP4 has been accredited by NCFE as a Customised Qualification. Successful learners will receive a certificate of achievement directly from NCFE. The certificate is evidence of the knowledge and skills gained by completing the qualification.
How PPP4 works
Teaching
PPP4 includes eight sessions (2 hours each) of live teaching with a PPP4 qualified PARS Licensed Trainer. The course materials include handouts, academic literature and a course handbook which you will use to help you complete your assessments. Study skills materials such as referencing guides are also provided.
Practice
During the PPP4 course you will be required to articulate, develop and evaluate your use of the PARS model whilst supervising children in their leisure time. You will not be assessed in your workplace.
Assessment
Assessment requires detailed reflexive practice which encompasses the entire model and written theory assignments with appropriate referencing (using APA 7) to the academic literature.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to complete previous PARS training before I join PPP4?
Yes - if you are interested in taking PPP4 you must complete PPP3 first.
Will I need to do homework on PPP4?
Yes - PPP4 is a NCFE accredited Customised Qualification, so all participants need to do weekly assignments during the course to demonstrate how they are able to articulate, develop and evaluate PARS theory and practice. These assignments are assessed by our Assessment Team who will give individual feedback on each assignment.
How long does PPP4 take?
PPP4 is taught online over 8 weeks in two hour sessions. In addition there are another 184 TQT (Total Qualification Time) hours in which you will need to do private study, apply PARS in your settings and complete your assessments.
What does the course cost cover?
The cost of this course is £600 per person, which includes all teaching, assessment, learning resources and certification from NCFE.

Dr Shelly Newstead (UK)
Shelly created the PARS playwork model as part of her doctoral research at the UCL Institute of Education, London. Shelly has worked in the playwork field for nearly thirty years as a practitioner, trainer, author, editor, publisher and researcher.
